May 13, 2020 Birth Mothers
ACF Adoptions hopes this email finds everyone doing well given how our worlds were turned upside down overnight due to COVID-19. Maintaining safety and health is most important. ACF Adoptions sprang into action as soon as we heard rumors of potential closures, as it is crucial for us to continue doing great adoption work and providing services to anyone interested in exploring a private adoption and/or placing baby for adoption in Florida.
ACF Adoptions is OPEN. In fact, we never closed our office not even for one day. Our staff are taking turns at the office and everyone has been connected to work from home. We are still very much 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and ready to help at any time.
If you are a birth parent who is considering coming forward to explore our agency, make an adoption plan, review potential adoptive families, etc., feel free to reach out via our websites adoptionflorida.org or acfadoptions.org, OR phone 305-653-2474 OR text 954-540-2383.
With COVID-19 in mind, ACF Adoptions is taking every precaution to keep birth parents and staff safe at all times. Before COVID-19, staff would go to meet with birth parents face-to-face at a location the birth parent felt most comfortable. They would review the adoption process in detail and get birth parents established with our agency if they decided to move forward with an adoption plan. That same social worker would continue to maintain contact throughout the process and even after birth for as long as the birth parent chooses. Nowadays, we have to be a little more careful with having contact but our commitment and the support we provide has not changed.
After birth parents contact our agency, we will connect them to the social worker who is nearest to them. Birth parents will have direct phone contact with the social worker and video calls are definitely allowed. Social workers will provide tons of information about ACF Adoptions and the adoption process as well as provide free counseling. Birth parents can have as much contact as they would like to have with the social worker via phone, video and text.
Our main office will send out, if possible, our birth parent booklet as well as agency forms to birth parents. Together with their social worker, each form will be reviewed to ensure they understand it all. Birth parents can either sign the forms and mail it back to us (we can provide mailing/postage) or they can decide to briefly meet face-to-face with their social worker if everyone is feeling safe and healthy so they can get the documents from you. After those initial documents are completed, you are active with our agency and all services we provide are available including financial assistance, match with potential adoptive families, legal representation (you never have to go to court), birth and delivery planning, having direct or indirect contact with the adoptive family you choose…just to name a few.
COVID-19 has affected all of us in many ways. ACF Adoptions remains OPEN, strong, and are ready and willing to help anyone interested in exploring making an adoption plan.
