Placing my baby for adoption in Florida/Alabama but I am unsure if I want contact with the adoptive family during my pregnancy…
Many of the birth mothers/parents who contact ACF Adoptions as they are considering a private adoption and placing their baby for adoption, often have questions about the type of contact they can have with the adoptive family they choose during their pregnancy. Because we strive to ensure that birth mothers/parents are comfortable with their adoption plan, YOU determine the type of contact you will have with the adoptive family during the pregnancy and afterwards.
ACF Adoptions is a private adoption agency in Florida and Alabama. Our adoption professionals will help you every step of the way and explain all of the types of contact you can have with the adoptive family. Some of our birth mothers/parents want to have direct contact with the adoptive family during their pregnancy while others feel more comfortable with their private adoption social worker as the connection between them and the family. Contact can be by text, emails, phone calls, video calls and/or face-to-face visit. It all depends on your level of comfort. Adoption counseling is always available to you for support and to explore your thoughts and feelings about having such contact with the adoptive family.
Adoptive families are most understanding of how difficult this process of considering to place your baby for adoption may be for you and will follow your lead. As the adoption agency, ACF’s adoption professionals can always be part of the first contact you have with the family if you would like and any future contact you want them to be a part of. The first meeting (even if it’s by phone) can be a little nerve racking for everyone. The ACF professional can start with introductions and help everyone get to know one another a little more.
You will decide how involved the adoptive family is throughout the adoption process including when you go to the hospital to give birth. ACF Adoptions wants you to feel comfortable at every step in your adoption plan as we know just how difficult placing your baby for adoption can be. You will never be forced to engage in any contact or communication that you do not want. We always follow your lead.
